First Day of School.......and a Few New Items in the Shop

We have had a wonderful summer!  We spent time with our family and friends.  The girls loved every camp they attended.  And they were even excited to start school this morning.  I make a daily effort to be cognizant of how extremely blessed we are.  I hope that I do not lose sight of how fortunate we are to be healthy, have a wonderful loving family, and a great community of friends and neighbors.

We have been away quite a bit during the last few weeks which is why I have been absent from the blogging world.  As much as I was not ready to return from vacation, I was happily surprised to find this gorgeous canister set awaiting me!  It took all of my strength to list it in the store.  (You know how tough it is for me to part with most of the items that I find or create :)).

I like how unique it is.  I also love blue and orange together as well as anything adorned with polka dots.

I also added these two grain sack body pillows.  The red one sold immediately and I just listed the blue one last night.  I like them because you do not see them everywhere.

I find the juxtaposition between the stark, soft white linen and the almost rough and rustic feel of the grain sack to be interesting.

I wish you all a wonderful last few weeks of summer.

French Enamelware Canisters

I love how I say that I don't collect many things due to space and budgetary constraints.  When I look at the list, it is not that short.  And of course, I justify adding items by saying that I will put them in my Etsy store.  Well, a few of these have made it there and one remains unlisted.  Balance, right? ;)

This set quite literally arrived on my doorstep at 3:30 yesterday afternoon.  I finished my day job and promptly listed it at 5:45pm.

Isn't is beautiful?  All three pieces are in very good condition.  From what I can tell it dates to the early 1900's.

I love the gilt and calligraphy.

My favorite part is the ribbing on the side.  Do you ever wonder how we went from this sort of beauty and attention to detail to what we produce now?

Anyways, this set sold within 30 minutes of listing it.  Of course, I am happy about that because someone else can now enjoy it.  Also, it allows me to reinvest in the store.  But I thought that it would hang out in my apartment for at least a week or two.   How's that for being ungrateful?  ;)

This beauty I am keeping for myself.

The best part, again, in my opinion, is the detailing on the side.

I have found a few more of these which will be in my store in a few weeks, when they arrive from France.

Have a wonderful day.

French Flea Market at the Lovely Chateau Sonoma

I had a wonderful few days off this past weekend.  It was quite indulgent.  I read a 500 page book, took a nap one afternoon, shopped a bit, and attended two flea markets.  Honestly, it doesn't get much better.  I did not take the camera to the French Flea Market on Saturday at Chateau Sonoma and I regret it.  It was awesome!  I did take a few photos on my phone though.

This booth is William's Antiks.  He always has many treasures and is happy to teach me a few words in french that would be useful if I ever actually get to a brocante or marche aux puces :)

Of course, French music

This is Marina's booth from Over the Ocean Antiques.  It was stunning!

In an effort to exercise some semblance of restraint, I did not buy the pitcher and am still kicking myself.

This is from inside the shop, which is absolutely jaw dropping.

Don't you just want to move in?

I can almost guarantee that if you read my blog you would love this shop.  It is an old house and each room has countless treasures that Sara has brought back from France.

Another great part of the day was that I got to meet Maria from Dreamy Whites.  She is just as lovely and talented as you would imagine from reading her blog.  Her merchandise is even more beautiful in person than in her pictures....imagine that.  Unfortunately, or fortunately, depending on how you look at it, I could not get one photo of her booth because it was so packed with people every time I visited it.  I know that she did great!  And I am happy for her since she told me if was her first show.

I did leave with a couple of wonderful items.

Look at the detail.....

I am happy to say that I learned from my mistake and brought the camera to the flea the following day.  I will post those soon.  It was on a goat farm!

Have a great week!
